We are excited to announce a new hire to help coach during the indoor season – Chris Muscat. Aimee said that “He will be a great addition to the amazing staff that we already have — bringing a new level from coaching at the Division 1 level to give our players an extra edge.”
Chris has just recently returned to Southern California to take on a Head Coaching position at MiraCosta College. He was previously at Division 1 Loyola University Chicago. In 2015, he helped the team to a 20-12 overall record – the most successful season record since 2004. This year, his team was recognized with three second-team All-Conference players. His team at Loyola was also recognized by the NCAA for an outstanding Academic Progress Rate (APR) score.
Before Loyola, Chris was the Assistant Coach at University of Missouri (2009-2010). The team successfully compiled 40 wins, finishing in a Sweet-Sixteen appearance. In 2007 and 2008, Chris was a part of the coaching staff at Stanford where the team attended back-to-back National Championship matches, only to be met my Penn State in both.
Chris has occupied many different roles and positions in his time coaching. He believes that the athlete should understand the “why” behind a technique or strategy as well as the “feel” of the motor skill so that during stressful situations, the player will be able to replicate that skill.
